Fitness Goals

There is a saying that “A goal without a deadline is just a dream.” In that vein, I have not only placed a deadline on my health and fitness goals, I have also reduced them to writing so that I can be held accountable. Here they are.

1. I want to lose 78 pounds at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I can reach my goal weight in 52 weeks, which would be the week of April 1, 2013. My husband told me to re-evaluate this goal at the 50 pound mark, which would be the week of November  19, 2012.  I may have an updated goal around that time.  We’ll see.

2. I want to run my first 5K race during the Spring of 2013.  A 5K is exactly 3.10685596 miles.  That is 3 miles + 564 feet + 2.4 inches.

3. (Added June 20, 2012)  I want to work my way up to 30 minutes on the elliptical machine without feeling like I’m about to have a heart attack.  I don’t have a deadline because I have no idea how long it will take me to accomplish this goal.

4. (Added June 20, 2012)  Instead of walking on the treadmill four times per week, I am going to walk on the treadmill three times per week and do strength training and the elliptical machine on the fourth day.

Once I reach my goal weight, I want to continue to eat healthy and exercise regularly so that I will maintain that level of health and fitness. I want to live an abundant life without taking medications for cholesterol and blood pressure.

This list of goals is evolving.  Please pray for me as I work toward achieving these goals.

Feel free to share your health and fitness goals in the Facebook group or on Twitter, so that we can encourage one another.  You can also complete the form on the Contact page.  “Iron sharpens iron.”
