…You are supposed to make lemonade. I have been dealing with many lemons in my life lately. External stress from a variety of sources had taken away my desire to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. I am not going to get into the details about the lemons. I have no excuses. I have exercise equipment in my home. I can exercise at any time of day. I simply had no desire. None. Nada. I could not encourage myself. No pep talk was strong enough to get me on the right road. No bueno.
However, sometimes the smallest things can turn your situation around. On Friday, my friend Donna shared on Facebook that she was blogging again at Reverend Mother Runner. You may remember Donna’s post on this blog during Testimony Tuesday. I liked the blog’s Facebook page and visited her new blog. She, too, had fallen off of her fitness journey. Donna wrote about how she got back on track. As I read her blog posts (all of them), I became encouraged. I stopped feeling bad about venturing so far off course. I decided to take my first step…again. I decided to keep going.
I went back to the treadmill on Saturday. I set a goal of walking for 30 minutes. I achieved my goal. At this point in my journey, it is not about the distance. It is about time. I need to build up my endurance again. I am not going to make a ton of plans and add unnecessary pressure to my life. I will take it one day at a time. One meal at a time. One workout at a time. One pound at a time. It’s lemonade making season!
