Are You An Expert? Why BlogHer '15 Is On My Agenda

BH15-goingBlogHer ’15 is exactly four weeks away! During the summer of 2013, I participated in the BlogHer ’13 conference by following the BlogHer At Home hashtag and tweeting. Because of that participation, I won a FULL conference pass to BlogHer ’14!

I deferred my win because I needed to attend a ministry conference that was being  held during that same time in July 2014.  Since life happens, I was actually not able to attend my ministry conference. My husband’s week-long hospitalization and many, many doctor appointments because of his cancer diagnosis wiped out my paid time from work.

In the summer of 2014, when BlogHer announced that the BlogHer ’15 conference would be held in New York City from July 16 to 18, 2015, I was beyond happy!  I secured my free pass on the day of that announcement and immediately registered when I received my special registration code.

The theme of the conference is “Experts Among Us.”  As I began to think about the theme, I contemplated the area(s) in which I want to develop an expertise.  I have one goal.

  • I want the My Faith and Fitness Blog and the For Your Deliberation Blog to be the platforms by which I secure teaching and speaking opportunities in the areas of faith and/or fitness.

I’m looking forward to hearing what the speakers will impart to us during the conference. I’m especially excited about the closing keynote speaker, Ava DuVernay!  I have been a fan of hers since I saw “I Will Follow” in 2011 during the Newark Black Film Festival at the Newark Museum. During the interview after the screening, I was so impressed by her accomplishments that I started following her on Twitter (@AVAETC) before the event ended.  …And she follows my personal Twitter account! (*swoon*)  I truly appreciate her hustle and work ethic.  I pray that I will have the opportunity to chat with her and take a picture with her.

Are you planning to attend BlogHer ’15 in NYC?  How do you want to become an expert?  Please share. Feel free to leave a comment at the end of this post, on the Facebook fan page, Tweet me or use the form on the Contact page. Be blessed. Stay encouraged.
