A Healthy U Conference, Take 2

A Healthy U Conference AgendaThis past Saturday, I attended the Second Annual A Healthy U Conference in New York City.  I had a fantastic time.  The one-day conference is organized by three health and fitness bloggers:  Cassandre from Losing in the City, Kimberly from Manifest Yourself and Schnelle from Brooklyn Active Mama.  Since I know them from blogging, social media and in real life, I wanted to support their efforts.

I also attended the inaugural conference, which was held in May 2014.  Despite my desire to do so, I was not able to write a recap.  No time.  At that time in May 2014, my husband had just been discharged from his week-long hospital stay and we were dealing with his recent cancer diagnosis. On the day of the first conference, I was just thankful for a joyful experience. Thankful for a break from doctors and ‘nem. One of the highlights was winning a healthy supply of Black Girls RUN! gear.  I wore some of those items to the race where I won my first medal. BGR! Gear

If you follow me on Twitter, you saw my many, many #AHealthyUCon tweets on Saturday. My winning streak continued when I won a $150.00 gift card to Brooks Running because of my social media posts during the conference!  Good stuff.  Brooks Running Gift Certificate

As you can see, the agenda was packed with great information that helped me on my health and fitness journey. The keynote from Lita Lewis placed many important issues into perspective. Lita shared her story of overcoming depression that was brought on by the end of a romantic relationship where her partner had been unfaithful.  During that time, she lost 30 pounds in one month and could barely recognize herself.  Her fitness journey began in order to get herself back to herself. Lita has an amazing physical, spiritual and mental testimony. I was blessed by what she shared with us.  If you’ll be in or around New York City in May 2016, put the A Healthy U Conference on your agenda! You will enjoy it.  Be blessed.  Remain encouraged.
