Product Review ~ The Zen Walking Shoe by Vionic

Disclosure:  Recently, I had the opportunity to wear a pair of the Zen Walking Shoes by Vionic so that I could write this product review.  I received the product for free in exchange for writing this product review.  This product review represents my honest opinions, findings, beliefs and experiences with this product. I welcomed the opportunity to review the Zen Walking Shoe ($119.95) because I am not always able to run on the treadmill or at the track near my home.  Taking a walk during the work day is a good substitute.  Walking is much better than physical inactivity.

Developed by leading podiatrist, Phil Vasyli, Vionic footwear counteracts the daily grind of walking on hard and unnatural surfaces, providing much-needed relief from pain in your feet, knees, legs and lower back.  Featuring patent pending built-in Orthaheel orthotic technology, they realign feet to their natural (neutral) position, allowing wearers to step softly and stay stylish!

I wore the Zen Walking Shoe for the first time during a busy Saturday.  My favorite part of the shoe is the arch support; it was comfortable and firm, but not rock hard.  I was either standing still or walking during most of the day.  Here’s the breakdown of my busy Saturday activities: Zen Walker

  • Wore the shoes for a total of 13 hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Attended ministry meetings at church
  • Prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for my husband and myself
  • Washed, dried and folded four loads of laundry, including sheets and towels (I stand when I fold laundry.)
  • Changed the sheets on two beds, one king and one queen
  • Baked two red velvet cakes, from scratch

Although my feet were tired by the end of the day, they were not achy.  Also, my calves did not hurt.  A few days prior to receiving this shoe, I walked 12K+ steps in one day wearing flat shoes with no support.  My calves were very sore for several days.  I wore the Zen Walking Shoe while I was recuperating.  Good stuff.  The Zen Walking Shoe will be my choice of footwear for my weekend errands.  When I run errands, I tend walk around for extended periods of time.  Outside of going to the treadmill or track, doing supermarket shopping constitutes the most steps for me during the day.  I look forward to wearing my Zen Walking Shoes to my next grocery shopping trip.  If you are in the market for a walking shoe, consider purchasing the Zen Walking Shoe.

As you may be aware, heart disease is the number one killer of women.  Physical inactivity is one of the six risk factors for heart disease.  Walking as little as 30 minutes per day may help reduce the risk of developing heart disease.  This is where Vionic enters the picture.  On Monday, March 3rd, Vionic launched its 3rd Annual Walkabout Challenge.  During this challenge, participants are encouraged to walk 30 minutes a day for 28 days and receive weekly tips from celebrity fitness trainer Juliet Kaska and health guru Dr. Andrew Weil and have the chance to win prizes including a trip to Los Angeles.

If you wear the Zen Walking Shoe, please share your experiences with me.  You can leave a comment at the end of this post or on the Facebook fan page, Tweet me, or complete the form on the Contact page. Be blessed. Remain encouraged.
