It’s a new year!  It is the perfect time to grab some new gear to help you reach your new health and fitness goals.  Here’s the skinny on the RC3 GPS Sports Watch ($299.95). Essential features in one compact package:  Polar RC3 GPS Sports Watch

  • Tracks your route, speed and distance using built-in GPS
  • Shows GPS based altitude during and after training
  • Training Benefit gives you instant feedback after your session
  • Running Index scores your performance
  • Improves performance with endurance training programs, downloadable for free from polarpersonaltrainer.com

If you’re not familiar with heart rate training, it helps people get the most out of every workout by helping them track exercise intensity and stay in the “zone” that’s most effective for their particular goals – whether it’s losing 10 lbs., training for a 5K or achieving “Ironman” status.  Heart rate training provides guidance, motivation and tracking to help users improve their performance over time.

I was very excited to have the opportunity to review the Polar RC3 GPS Sports Watch for several reasons.  It is important that the heart rate sensor is included.  I like the fact that the entire Polar system allows me to keep track of my heart rate so that I make sure that I do not over exert or injure myself.  I did not grow up as an athlete, so I want to ensure that my tools give me the feedback that I need to stay injury-free.

I used the Polar RC3 GPS Sports Watch during several of my workouts on the treadmill.  Because of the different available activity settings, I plan to use the watch and heart rate sensor while doing cardio exercises. The watch and heart rate sensor are easy to operate.  Also, the watch has a large face so that I could gauge my performance while exercising without losing my stride.  With the “zone” technology, I was able to see my progress as my heart rate increased.  Since I am a runner, I would need the S3+ Stride Sensor to track my speed, distance and pace in order to get a full idea of my performance.  Even without the stride sensor, I was able to get valuable information about my performance.  Polar offers several sports watches to satisfy various athletic levels and types of activities.  If you are a tracker like I am, seriously consider adding the Polar RC3 GPS Sports Watch to your fitness routine.

If you own or use the Polar RC3 GPS Sports Watch, please share your experiences with me.  You can leave a comment at the end of this post or on the Facebook fan page, Tweet me, or complete the form on the Contact page. Be blessed. Remain encouraged.
