World AIDS Day 2013 ~ Know Your Status

Header - Post - Statistics

World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988.

Do you know your status?  With the advent of technology, we have no excuses for not knowing our status.  We can even obtain our HIV status in the privacy of our homes.  I recently learned about OraQuick®, which is the first FDA-approved oral swab in-home test for HIV-1 and HIV-2. OraQuick® is an oral swab test that does not require blood. The test based on the same HIV test that healthcare professionals have used since 2004.

No excuses.  If you do not know your status, be proactive and make an appointment with your doctor or purchase OraQuick® and perform the test at home.  If you know your status, encourage your friends, family members and loved ones to learn theirs.  Share information about HIV and AIDS with them so that they can stay healthy.  Be blessed.  Remain encouraged.
