A Wonderful Word for Wednesday ~ Turn Up Your Light!

Header - Post - Go Get It In 2013On Wednesdays, the My Faith and Fitness Blog will feature a passage of scripture and questions to encourage us to reflect on how we can each live a life that pleases God and allows us to fulfill the plans that God has prepared for us.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. ~ Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)

What causes the light that God has placed in us to become dim?  What methods can we use to eliminate those causes?

How should we react if someone attempts to dim the light that is within us?

What methods can we use to increase the brightness of the light that is within us?

I believe what causes the light that God has placed in us to become dim is going against His will. When we do things that are not Christlike the light begins to dim. When can abide by His word and follow His commandments. That will enable us to keep the light within us from dimming.

If someone attempts to dim the light that is within us we can recite God’s promises to ourselves, either in our minds or aloud. We must quickly remind ourselves that what that person is doing isn’t Christlike and we cannot allow it to affect us to take us of the course He has set for our lives.

We can increase the brightness of the light by being a blessing to others. Make others shine and it will cause our light to brighten as well.
