A Wonderful Word for Wednesday ~ No More Idols

Header - Post - Go Get It In 2013On Wednesdays, the My Faith and Fitness Blog will feature a passage of scripture and questions to encourage us to reflect on how we can each live a life that pleases God and allows us to fulfill the plans that God has prepared for us.

19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.  20 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;  21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:  22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.  23 Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua. ~ Judges 2:19-23 (KJV)

Where are the idols in your life?  How can you eliminate those idols and re-focus on your relationship with God?

What short-term and long-term consequences have you experienced because you disobeyed God?

In what areas of your life have you strayed away from your relationship with God?

I have one (former) romantic relationship that I feel has become, at points, dangerously close to being an “idol” – my thoughts, heart and energy are often consumed by it, and those are all emotional and mental resources that I should be directing towards the Lord… thank you for the reminder ♥

Thank you for sharing. I have to remain vigilant, too because my extra curricular activities take so much time. I need to make sure that I keep those activities in perspective. Be blessed.
