The best laid plans… I only made it to the gym two out of my four scheduled times during the week of July 30th. This week, I only made it to the gym one time. It had been nine days since my last visit to Planet Fitness. This nine-day exercise drought occurred because life events intervened into my gym regimen. Life events even prevented me from blogging and tracking my calories as meticulous as usual. No bueno.
This past week in particular, I celebrated my second wedding anniversary. In the midst of our various celebrations, my husband and I went to dinner at a soul food restaurant (read: many extra calories). It was sooo good. I ordered fried chicken. I know what you’re thinking: “No bueno.” But, we haven’t divorced yet. I don’t know if fried chicken and I are ever going to get divorced. I don’t feel about fried chicken the way I feel about butter. You may recall that recently, butter and I got divorced. I’m OK with the status of our relationship. Fried chicken and I, however, are going to have a more difficult time separating completely. Just when I thought we were done, it pulls me back in.
In another area of my life, I am the newly elected Secretary of the Inman Page Black Alumni Council of Brown University, my undergraduate alma mater. We had a retreat this weekend. I did a lot of sitting. Needless to say, no exercise and limited choices of food did not further my weight loss cause. Dinner one evening was Thai food. Not exactly, a low-calorie alternative. I think that I made wise choices. We’ll see on Tuesday, August 14th at my weekly weigh-in whether or not my nine-day gym drought caused me more harm than good. Please pray for weight loss.
