Tuesday seemed like the longest day ever. I woke up early to do my weekly weigh in. I was disappointed to see that I gained 3.8 pounds since July 3. No bueno. Two words. Peach cobbler. My husband and I made a 9″ x 13″ x 3″ peach cobbler for the holiday. We had company on July 4, but we also had leftovers. I ate leftover peach cobbler on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I still had my normal gym sessions last week. Apparently, my gym regimen was no match for the peach cobbler. Lesson learned.
Additionally, I spent all day in court on Tuesday. That afternoon, more like evening, I did not leave the courthouse until 7:20 p.m. I know you may be thinking, “Doesn’t the courthouse close at 4:30 or 5:00?” Normally, yes. But since the calendar was not complete, we had to stay there until the calendar was complete. When my husband picked me up from my office, I told him, “They got the butter from the duck today.” I was exhausted. I had been on my feet, literally and figuratively, all day. So, we skipped our gym date. I went home, put on my pajamas and relaxed on the couch. I was glad that my husband was not disappointed about skipping the gym. He reassured me that it is not good to exercise when you are tired because you are more prone to becoming injured. As you may remember, I already hurt a muscle in my left leg recently. I don’t have time for injuries. I’m on a mission.
I slept quite well on Tuesday night and was refreshed this morning! Thank God for peaceful sleep. I am glad that I listened to my body and got some rest. I understand “No pain, no gain” but oftentimes, we push ourselves too much and our “pushing” becomes detrimental to our health and well being. Tomorrow is another day. How is your week progressing? What is your body telling you? Make sure that you listen. Remain encouraged.
